Local Excursions

Ready for a change of pace? These "worth the drive" destinations offer a unique look at life on the shore.

Assateague Island National Seashore

Just 15 minutes south of Ocean City, this is a must-see. It’s famous for its wild horses that roam the beaches and marshes. It feels worlds away from the neon of the boardwalk.

  • Great for hiking, bird watching, and uncrowded beaches.
  • Pro-Tip: Bring plenty of bug spray—the marsh mosquitoes are legendary!
Assateague Wild Horses
Historic Berlin Maryland

Berlin, Maryland

Voted America's "Coolest Small Town," Berlin is just 10 miles inland. It’s a beautifully preserved historic town with great antiquing, boutique shops, and local restaurants.

Movie Trivia: Both "Runaway Bride" and "Tuck Everlasting" were filmed right here on Main Street.

The Golfer's Corner

Ocean City is home to some of the finest championship courses on the East Coast. As a member at Paramus and an avid player, these are my two favorites:

Rum Pointe Golf

Rum Pointe

A Pete Dye design where 17 of the 18 holes have views of the Sinepuxent Bay. It’s a stunning, world-class challenge that feels like a private club.

Eagle's Landing Golf

Eagle’s Landing

The only course in Maryland certified as an Audubon Sanctuary. It offers a beautiful, serene mix of salt marshes, wetlands, and local wildlife.

After your adventure at Assateague, come back and relax by the pool at Ocean Waves at Park Place
